Well, crazy times guys. Im on my first week of complete isolation now that schools are shut and Im already going a bit stir crazy! Today I thought I would share with you some of the vinyls I've been reaching for in the past few days to keep me entertained. I can assure you, this is the first post of many like this one!
Im obsessed with vinyls and Im lucky enough to own alot of old school ones as my parents had an amazing record collectin when they were younger. I grew up having a record playing at my grandparents house which I used to spend hours listening to and hunting through their record collection. Although I have some great oldies in my collection, I love buying vinyls instead of albums these days and I'm so glad I have my own wee collection building up which I will share with you over time.
Two Scottish legends first, Lewis Capaldi & Nina Nesbitt. Lewis' debut album
Devinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent is an ear worm of an album. Im obsessed. I thought Capaldi was pretty good, then I saw him perform live at Belladrum and fell head over heals for not only his music, but his voice. This album is one of those that you can put on and listen to over and over again. His released singles are just the tip of the iceberg of gems on this album, the lyrics are so beautifully poetic and of course, listening on vinyl just makes the songs even more magical.
Nina Nesbitts album
The Sun Will Come Up, The Seasons Will Change is an incredible piece of work from another scottish legend. Ive been a fan of Nina since her EP
The Apple Tree was released back in 2012. Her first album Peroxide was so good and myself and Bruce went to a few of her shows of hers back in the day. Her sound has developed into a more modern pop chilled vibe compared to the folk sound she used to gravitate towards.
Colder is such a great track, my favourite on the album and again, made insanely good played on vinyl along with her ballad
Is It Really Me Your Missing which Nina's voice is stunning in.
Another favourite of mine to put on is Taylor Swifts
RED album. Of all her albums this is still my absolute favourite and I listen to it over and over. I love the mix on this album of proper pop hits but still having the country element in majority of the tracks.
Begin Again is my favourite track of hers and listening to it on vinyl makes it sound so beautiful. The lyrics throughout the album are stunning, heartfelt and classic Taylor. You feel yourself totally relating to certain tracks and getting lost in the stories she tells. I have three of her albums on vinyl and can't wait to get some more.
Amy Winehouse is an idol of mine. Her voice, her songwriting, her style, I adored her. Amajor talent taken wy to soon from the world. I think out of all my records, Amy's voice is the most stunning played on vinyl. It sounds like shes in the room with you, the rawness of the vocals are emphasised and all you can do is just sit and absorb it. Each of the tracks on this album are incredibly written and show a huge insight in to what she was going through and experiencing at the time.
Finally, a really recent one that I haven't stopped playing since I got it is Louis Tomlinson's debut album
Walls. Louis was always been my favourite member of One Direction, I remember always wearing striped clothes and toms to match his style, anyone else? His solo sound is so good, its almost early 2000s to me with hints of Blur and Travis coming through, I love it.

Walls is just perfection and once again, hearing it on vinyl is my favourite.
