Pretty Little Liars | The Basics

Is anyone else completely addicted to Pretty Little Liars? If you haven't seen it, I suggest you settle down for a nice duvet day, grab a cuppa and start at the very beginning.

Pretty Little Liars is an American drama based in Rosewood telling the story of five best friends, one who has recently gone missing. Aria, Spencer, Hanna, Emily and Ali were care free young ladies who didn't have a care in the world, or so they thought until Ali goes missing on September 1st. After she goes missing the four girls start to receive mysterious texts and messages from an anonymous person who goes by A. Each series follows the girls trying to solve who A is at the same time as trying to stop their private lives from falling apart at the seams.

Aria Montgomery (Lucy Hale) is a very artistic young girl who has recently returned back to Rosewood from Iceland after her family life took a bit of a hit. She discovers a new love after her return which turns out to be a lot more complicated than she could ever have imagined. Aria is a very family person and will do anything to protect them from A.

Spencer Hastings (Troian Bellisario) is the brainy one of the five friends. Her mother a lawyer, father a businessman and her sister an angel in her parents eyes, Spencer is under a lot of pressure to achieve. When the mystery of Ali's disappearance begins to unfold Spencer is front and centre of trying to track down who is behind all of this.

Emily Fields (Shay Mitchell) is the sports enthusiast of all the girls. She is an amazing swimmer and hopes to become a champion one day. She struggles to come to terms with her sexuality in season one which leads to her being a favourite target of A's. Emily will do anything to keep her friends safe and is always seeing the good in everyone.

Hanna Marin (Ashley Benson) is currently one of the schools popular girls, before Ali disappeared however she was overweight and bullied. Hanna is very close to her mother since her father walked out on them recently and sometimes Hanna can't deal with the fact they now struggle with money. Hanna has a very outspoken personality but has a huge heart which becomes apparent throughout each series.
