Taylor Swifts a Sellout? | August 2017 ♡

Even if your not a Taylor Swift fan, you'll surely still be aware that today she dropped her brand new track 'Look What You Made Me Do' which is from her sixth album due to come out November 10th. Since her last album, 1989, Ive found that so many people have fallen out of love with Taylor Swift purely for the reason they believe 'she's now a sellout'.

Taylor released her first album in 2006, when she was just 16 years old. She was a country singer, a breath of fresh air in the industry and totally unique. This was 11 years ago. Through her albums since then, we have seen her grow, develop as an artist, try new sounds and become one of the most famous women in the world today.

Now, comparing her music from 2006 to now, her sound has completely changed. What gets me, is when people say that she has changed her sound for the money, that she is nothing special anymore, she's a sellout. What we have to remember is that 11 years has gone by since Taylor released her first album and not only has the music industry changed and grown, so has Taylor herself.

Think about yourself for a moment, have you changed in 10 years? I certainly have.
I enjoy different things, I listen to different music, I surround myself with different people. I can honestly say that I am a very different person to the one I was all that time ago.
Looking at Taylor and her more recent albums I don't see why people get their knickers in a twist purely for the reason 'she sounds so different now'. This dosent mean she isn't writing amazing music and lyrics, it dosent mean that her tours are rubbish compared to the old ones, it dosent mean that she dosen't care about her fans just because she's changed her sound!

Sooooo many artists sounds have changed since they first appeared on the scene.
Katy Perry started her career singing christian music before breaking into the pop industry, Miley Cyrus was Hannah Montana. Lady Gaga released a jazz album with Tony Bennet in between her pop albums. Mumford & Sons steered away from the folk sound they rose to fame with when releasing  their album Wilder Mind and look at Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato, how they have changed since their Disney Days. The list goes on!

Taylor is writing music that she wants which on the plus side, has sky rocketed her career. She may go back to country, she may not, but why say 'she's such a sellout' just because she has developed and grown as an artist and is releasing music she loves and wants to share with everyone. Taylor is one of the most successful woman in the world, she dosent need to release music to stay current, to make money, to keep up with other artists. She has already left her stamp on the industry.

Her new track is sassy, its catchy and its got so much attitude. If you know Taylor's story you know the song has such meaning behind it, the lyrics are so personal. Yes its completely different, yes its not to everyones taste. This song will bring her new fans and perhaps lose old ones, thats the way it goes. I can already tell by this song that the album, for me personally, will be unreal. I hope Taylor continues  to write, produce and release music that she is passionate about.

I hope this makes sense as its been annoying me over this past week in the run up to the new release some of the comments I have been reading and getting from people.
Id love to hear your thoughts, if you agree or disagree and how you are feeling about this new Taylor era. Im so excited for this new album!

Thanks for reading,

Classic Victoria Sponge | August 2017

Bruces absolute favourite cake is a Classic Victoria Sponge and as it was his Birthday yesterday, perfect excuse to bake one up for him. I really love baking and don't often have the chance to do so.
A Victoria Sponge is super easy and if your new to baking or just fancy baking something up quickly, this is the perfect recipe for you. I always follow the wonderful Mary Berry's recipe and just alter the measurement depending on how many I'm baking for.
Below is the recipe for 12 slices;

225g Self Raising Flower
225g Caster Sugar
225g Butter
4 Free Range Eggs
2 tsp Baking Powder

Icing Sugar
Flavoured Jam

Firstly pre-heat your oven to around 180C/350F and leave that warming up whilst you create your cake. Mix up your Flour, Butter, Baking Powder, Sugar and Eggs into a bowl until its a nice smooth mixture, for better results use a hand mix but you can also do it by hand.

Use some butter to grease up your cake tins so the cake won't stick to it and then evenly distribute your cake mix into the two tins.

Leave them in the oven for 20-25 minutes until they are golden and will spring back when you push them down slightly. Leave both to completely cool before spreading your chosen jam onto one surface. Then place the other slice on the top. Sprinkle a nice amount of icing sugar over the top of the cake and voila! That's as easy as it is!

Let me know if you guys make this recipe, would love to see some of your creations.
Have a lovely weekend!

The Denim Jacket | August 2017 ♡

A Denim Jacket is something I have been desperate for this summer. However, could I find one I liked...not at all! I had searched shops for months to find a denim jacket that fits nicely and dosen't cost an arm and a leg. I finally stumbled across this beauty in H&M.  I have been wearing it non stop and absolutely love it. I feel like it can finish off an outfit nicely and in this chilly scottish weather, you can enjoy wearing it instead  of a big old jacket.

Today I thought I would show you a couple of outfits I've been styling my new favourite piece with,  I love that it can go with absolutely anything.

Thank you for taking the time to read,

Heres a wee link to H&M's Denim Jacket page, their are so many to choose from! They are so affordable and I had to try on a couple before I could make my mind up of which to go with....may have to go and pick up another one!
