GIRLBOSS, Why It Inspired Me | June 2017 ♡

*

Last month, a brand new series came on to Netflix. Girlboss is a series based on the beginnings of Sophia Amoruso's venture into her, now global business, Nasty Gal. It follows her struggles as a 23 year old woman on the verge of being evicted from her apartment, lost and not sure where to go with life. I binged watched the series over two days and loved it.

Girl Boss has totally inspired me. Being 23 myself, I found that I could totally relate to Sophia. Feeling stuck, not wanting to 'adult', torn between wanting to follow dreams and facing reality. The series really got me thinking about what I was doing with myself and where I wanted to be in a few years time. Having just finished my second year of University Im at a point in my life where Im feeling settled, happy enough with where I am, but totally positive that this is not where I want to be forever.

Watching GirlBoss made me think about things that I used to do, things I used to enjoy before I felt the pressures of adult life and delved into University to try and 'better myself'. Watching Sophia embrace something that she loved to do and turn it into a successful business made me want to embrace all the things I used to love and forget about trying to be what I feel the world is pushing me and others to try and be.

I think we all feel the pressure to be something 'proper' like a lawyer, teacher, accountant which don't get me wrong are amazing jobs to be in. However were living in an age where we have the ability to turn things we love into jobs and hobbies that ten years ago were just hobbies. The online world has given us such amazing opportunities and access to things that were previously thought of as impossible. I totally admire those that are Teachers,  Police Officers and Scientists but I also totally admire those that have turned blogs and youtube channels into businesses, those that make a living through their Instagram profiles and those that have turned a hobby or passion into and online success. I think Girlboss has opened my eyes to the possibilities that could come of sharing your talents, sharing your passions and not giving two hoots what anyone else's negative or shitty opinions are towards you and what you love doing.

Embrace your hobbies, your talents, your passions. Share them with the world.
I hope this post makes sense and isn't just a ramble! Needing some inspiration and a laugh, watch Girlboss....its changed my outlook!
